Helicopter flying over Public Safety Academy

Students connect with federal law enforcement during a powerful “Fentanyl: 1 Pill Can Kill” presentation

Fairfield, CA (October 21, 2026) – Students at FSUSD’s Public Safety Academy (PSA) received an unforgettable lesson in drug awareness and prevention during a special Red Ribbon Week presentation, which featured a helicopter landing by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

As part of the DEA’s “Fentanyl: 1 Pill Can Kill” campaign, students learned about the dangers of fentanyl, the potentially deadly risks of counterfeit pills, and the importance of making safe, informed decisions. The presentation brought the message to life by connecting students directly with federal law enforcement professionals and giving them a firsthand look at the work of those dedicated to protecting their communities.

The highlight of the event was the arrival of a DEA helicopter on campus, an exciting experience that captured students’ attention and made the important prevention message even more memorable.

Principal Jason Fischer expressed his appreciation to Special Agent Decker and his partner for making such a meaningful impression on students and staff.

“This was one of the most impactful presentations we have had in my time at PSA!” Fischer shared. “The event made a huge impression on the cadets and gave them a high school experience they will remember for their whole lives.”

“It’s so important that our students have engaging, real-world learning experiences that reinforce their safety and well-being,” said FSUSD Superintendent Jennifer Sachs. “We are grateful to the DEA for helping our students understand the very real dangers of fentanyl and the importance of making informed choices that protect their futures.”

Red Ribbon Week serves as a reminder of the importance of preventing drug use and helping young people make healthy choices. Through partnerships with community and public safety professionals, FSUSD continues to provide students with meaningful opportunities to learn about the risks they may face, ask questions, and build the knowledge they need to make safe decisions.
